The burning chair is a blend of bourbons from three distilleries: one in each Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana. The whiskey is aged in new, charred American oak until it reaches the desired maturity. Then Phinney works his magic and finishes the blended product in barrels previously used for his cabernet based wine for eight long months.
(Gates Circle’s blend is aged a little different. We used both zinfandel and Grenache wine barrels 2/3 Zin and 1/3 Grenache).
Aromatically intriguing with brown sugar, caramel, butterscotch and toasty oak.
The palate is smooth and lush with loads of vanilla bean, baking spices, maple and baked apples.
The finish is long and exciting, begging for another sip.
