Celebrate Roberts Burns Night January 25th – Drink Some Scotch from Gates Circle

Roberts Burns Night or Roberts Burns Supper is a day to celebrate the life of Scotland’s famous poet and most beloved Robert Burns. Robert Burns Night is celebrated every year on January 25th, a day to celebrate, drink some scotch from Gates Circle.

There are five regions of scotch: Speyside, Highlands, Lowlands, Islay and Campbelltown.

Islay

Scotch whisky made on Islay or Ìle in Gaelic the southernmost of the inner Hebidean Islands located of the west coast of Scotland. Islay scotch is best known for its peaty, smoky whiskies.

Kilchoman Loch Gorm: Is named after a famously dark peaty loch overlooked by the distillery. Loch Gorm is matured exclusively on oloroso sherry casks. Orange peel, cloves, caramel, spices, fruite cake and citrus make up the nose. The palate is a balance of spicy richness, cooked fruits, chocolate, brown sugar and peat smoke.

Ardbeg: is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all. It does not flaunt the peat, but rather gives way to the natural sweetness of the malt to produce a whisky of perfect balance

Laphroaig: Laphroaig 10 Years Old Islay Single Malt Scotch is an all-malt Scotch Whisky from the remote island of Islay in the Western Isles of Scotland. Laphroaig, pronounced “La-froyg”, is a Gaelic word meaning “the beautiful hollow by the broad bay”

Caol Ila: After many years maturation in oak casks, this single malt has been double-matured in dark Muscatel cask wood, hand-selected to complement the whisky’s sweetly fruity, smoky intensity.

Glen Scotia:  This Double Cask is matured in the finest first fill bourbon barrels before being finished for up to twelve months in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks producing this outstanding single malt whisky that provides the perfect balance of rich spicy fruits, overlaid with the characteristic sea spray and vanilla oak finish for which the house of Glen Scotia is famous.

Highland

Highland single malt are whiskies produced n the highland reign of Scotland. Highland distilleries primarily produce single malt which is made from 100% malted barley.

Dalmore: has a rich, golden amber color. It is filled with a fruity aroma with notes of orange, dark plums, chocolate and marzipan. The taste explodes with hints of citrus, Christmas cake, coffee and cinnamon. The finish is oaky with a touch of vanilla.

Highland Park: is a combination of the best barley malted over peat fires, which is then merged with unique spring waters of the Orkney Islands. The whisky is aged for a minimum of twelve years that shape its rare and very distinctive character.

The Ardmore:  The Ardmore Legacy celebrates the distillery’s unique location on the fringes of the Highlands, offering a lightly peated liquid that is sweet and uplifting. Nose of heather honey with hints of cinnamon and toffee bonbon, very subtle hints of peat smoke. On the palate creamy vanilla spice gives way to more overt Smokey charcoal notes.

Shackleton: Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch is based on the spirit supplied to the 1907 British Antarctic Expedition, expertly crafted using a selection of the finest Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. With a nose of vanilla, toffee apple, cinnamon and ginger. Taste of dark sugar, sweet dried fruits and glazed pineapple. With a finish of hot mulled wine, praline chocolate and a final whisper of bonfire smoke.

Compass Box:  has a bonfire-like smokiness on the nose with a peatiness that is by turns tarry and medicinal with hints of autumn leaves. A powerful smokiness and peatiness follow, accented by hints of ripe cherries, plums and spice.

Speyside

Single malt scotch whiskies distilled in Strathspey the area around the River spey in Moray, Badenoch and Strathspey in northeastern Scotland.

Cardhu: is a soft, smooth Speyside single malt acclaimed for its elegant style and silky texture. Finest malt barley , pure spring water from the Mannoch hills, slow traditional distilling and skilled maturation in oak.

The Singleton: Our 12 year old single malt scotch whisky is matured in a high proportion of American oak casks with a small portion of European oak casks to balance the liquid. The result is an easy to enjoy single malt with fresh fruit aromas, a sweet honeyed palate and a creamy lingering finish.

Benromach:  It opens with a rich sherry aroma with touches of fruit and nut chocolate, delicate spice and green apples following along. With water, this Scotch takes on a nutty tone with touches of charred oak, malt, pineapple, and kiwi. On the palate you will savor notes of juicy raspberries, brambles, sherry, creamy malt, and light peat. Add water to experience this Scotch at its fullest, with toasted malt, delicate peat smoke, and a lingering sweet sherry taste. The finish is extremely smooth and sensational.
