Bedrock Ode to Lucien 2013 Wine
Red and delicious, Bedrock Ode to Lucien 2013
radiates notes of raspberries, black cherries, and earthy tones with black pepper and barbecue spice. In the mouth, this wine is deep, rich, and full-bodied. A complex blue and black-fruited wine with plenty of body and sweet tannins, it will drink will for 7 to 10 years.
Ode to Lucien is a blend of Mourvedre, Grenache, and Syrah inspired by the Bandol-rouge style. The grapes were sourced from vines planted prior to 1900 and dry farmed using organic and biodynamic methods. Fermentation with natural yeasts was followed by aging in neutral oak.
Bedrock Wine Co. was founded in 2007 by Morgan Twain-Peterson in a 550 square-foot, former chicken coop with 8 foot ceilings and no fermentation space. After six years of Bedrock being a one-man-show, Morgan was able to talk his best friend, Chris Cottrell, into moving to California from New York to join him. They now happily have a little more space to move around in but share the same objectives that guided the winery at the start: channelling the fruit of ancient vines into powerful, elegant, and distinctly Californian wines.
